Cross-Cultural Communication

Teams are more global than ever. Working well with people from different cultural backgrounds now decides how fast and how smoothly work gets done. This Cross-Cultural Communication workshop in Hong Kong helps your team communicate better and build positive relationships across cultures.

The programme is interactive, with minimal theory. It runs as two short sessions. The first builds awareness of working styles with Lumina Learning. The second uses Culture Mapping to show how culture shapes values, mindset, behaviour and bias.

Objectives

  • Build individual and team awareness of working styles based on psychological preferences and cultural backgrounds

  • Sharpen communication and collaboration skills

  • Co-create a psychologically safe environment where everyone can thrive

  • Sustain high performance as a team and as an organisation

Course outline

SESSION 1: WORKING STYLES WITH LUMINA LEARNING

Self-Knowledge

  • Raise awareness of your own style preference

Building Rapport

  • Communicate using Speed Reading and Style Flexibility

Valuing Diversity

  • Understand style differences and what people have in common

Co-Creating Results

  • Use each other's strengths to reach higher goals

  • Each person announces one change they commit to

SESSION 2: CULTURE MAPPING

  • Acknowledge our own cultural identity

  • Understand subtle differences in communication styles, core values and social expectations

  • Learn and practise tools to suspend judgement

  • Be more curious about each other's culture

  • Have open, practical conversations about how to build a diverse, high-performing team

  • The team agrees a list of guiding principles for working together
